Friday Night Fun: William Austin Team Night Out at Lane7
Last Friday night certainly provided the laughs as the William Austin team took to Lane7 in Birmingham for a night of bowling, snooker, and naturally, a bit of beer pong. With drinks flowing, “friendly” competition, and the occasional bout of gambolling (mentioning no names…), it didn’t take long for chaos to set in.
Chaos from the Get-Go
We’d barely been at Lane7 for ten minutes when things kicked off, and not on the bowling lanes. Our Managing Director, Paul W, managed to lose his phone and we were convinced it was stolen. After a mild panic, it was eventually found safe and sound behind a railing, having slipped out of his pocket. Crisis averted, the night could finally get under way.
Bowling Battles and “Creative” Techniques
Bowling was first on the agenda, and competition got heated rather quickly, as many of the team knew, a bet between office staff, James and Roz, added an extra bit of spice to the mix, although it was Roz who was victorious and came out on top in questionable fashion…
As mentioned there were some questionable techniques on display, throwing two balls down the lane at the same time? I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t in the rulebook, but a win’s a win, I guess. Although in Roz’s defence, the two ball technique was happening on the other team, so both teams were as bad as each other. Congratulations to Roz’s team for winning on the night (sort of).
Highlights included:
Flavia somehow managing to get gutter ball after gutter ball.
James getting increasingly frustrated by said gutter balls.
Lewis taking the crown for the highest score out of anyone on the night.
Ryan pulling off a strike with the rolling ramp. How he managed that, I have no idea, but fair play.
A spot of bowling to begin the night
Beer Pong and Beyond
After bowling came beer pong, and this is where things started to get lively. Drinks were hitting harder, shots were flying (not always into cups, and the room filled with laughter. From there, the night blurred into a mix of dancing, with some questionable moves on display, a few played a spot of snooker, and just a whole bunch of shenanigans, including the said gambolling.
Beer Pong well underway
A Night to Remember
All in all, it was brilliant to see everyone having a great time, and enjoying themselves outside of work and sharing plenty of laughs with each other. Huge thanks to everyone who came along, it’s nights like this that remind us of what a great team we’ve got here at William Austin.
Another one the cards soon? Maybe at Christmas… though judging by how some of us felt the next morning, perhaps a little recovery time is needed first!
